How can ordinary people begin learning about Taoist culture?

I am very interested in Taoist culture but don't know where to start. Is there a learning path suitable for beginners? Do I need to visit a Taoist temple? Can I study on my own?

You can absolutely start self-study, but deeper cultivation requires guidance from a qualified teacher. Most importantly: don't rush. Taoism teaches "Dao follows nature" — your learning should also follow its natural pace.

Recommended progressive learning path: 1) Read classics: Tao Te Ching → Zhuangzi (Inner Chapters) → Qingjing Jing; 2) Study commentaries: works by modern scholars; 3) Learn history: "History of Chinese Taoism" by Qing Xitai; 4) Practice: learn zhan zhuang, Ba Duan Jin, sitting meditation; 5) Visit temples: experience White Cloud Temple, Qingcheng Mountain, Wudang Mountain in person.
